Moving! Jun. 22nd, 2006 @ 01:29 pm
Hi, all. I've decided to move to Blogger for good. If I can find a way to port my old entries from here, I'll do that eventually, but for right now everything will just be left as it is, with the new stuff appearing at: http://adrasteiaslabyrinth.blogspot.com/

Feel free to comment and say hi! :)

Fremont Fair Jun. 20th, 2006 @ 05:31 pm
On Saturday I went to the Fremont Fair. It was pretty fun, got to see a lot of interesting people. I also got a henna design on my hand:

This made me think that I might very much like a tattoo. However, instead of having it on my hand, I think it might be nicer to have it on my foot. Then, if I'm having an interview or something, I can just wear shoes and not have to cover it up. Here is the design I'm considering for that (no, that is not my foot):

And a side view:

wine and articles Jun. 15th, 2006 @ 09:12 pm
Enjoying a lovely glass of Panther Creek 2004 pinot noir from the Willamette Valley this evening. I decided to make a rather elaborate dinner, so I sautéed up some shrimp and scallops, then dipped those in cocktail sauce for an appetizer. I also sautéed some potatoes and mushrooms separately with a bunch of seasonings, then mixed the mushrooms with boiled green beans and heated up last night's golden beets. Altogether, a very colorful and delicious meal. I know you're supposed to drink white wine with seafood, but I just don't really like it, and I enjoy pinot noir so much that I kind of think it goes with everything, even donuts. :p For dessert was little pieces of bread dipped in pot de crème. Chocolate and wine go well together - at least this chocolate and this wine did.

Also got a very interesting article from my favoritest great aunts, Kathy and Joyce, who heard about my plans for an interdisciplinary graduate degree (the latest and possibly best idea so far), remembered them and actually thought of me later. Kudos to you two! *hugs* It looks very informative, so I'm looking forward to cuddling up with it in bed and finishing off my wine. I'm sure the cat will join me.

Bonne nuit, buenas noches, buonanotte, etc. Take care, all.

Nordstrom Rack Jun. 12th, 2006 @ 11:35 am
Hi, everyone.
It's been a while.
It was lovely yesterday, so among other activities I went to Nordstrom Rack in downtown. They had a fabulous selection of designer sunglasses for way cheap, so I snagged myself a bargain. Originally $115, these are by Giorgio Armani and were marked down to $44.97. They're very cute on. :)

Not feeling too well today, throat hurts and I've been coughing a lot. I'm at work anyway, though, since I was feeling guilty about being out sick the last two days. *sigh*

Why is it that diet meal replacement bars like Luna, PowerBar, all the rest, seem to have such a sickly-sweet taste to them? Why can't bars be made that taste like carrots or tomatoes or something like that? I'd eat them more if I didn't want to hurl at the sweet taste. It's like having dessert all the time, which is gross. It'd be nice if there were bars that had the same fill-you-up power as the sweet ones but that tasted like something more palatable.

I have actually found myself getting into the sequel to Morrowind, Oblivion. I'd forgotten how much fun stealing stuff in games can be! lol Unfortunately, though, I've done so much stuff for thieves that I have a rather high infamy level and I can't buy myself a house with my ill-gotten wealth until I've knocked off the badness and actually helped a few peasants recover misplaced daughters and such. Good waste of time.

Amusing moment this morning:

Listening to SHOUTcast at work and an 80s song called Iko Iko by The Belle Stars came on. Could not figure out what they were saying, but it really sounded like "Jerking off feet all day." Looked it up on the internet, and it turns out they were saying "Jock-a-mo fee-na-ne," whatever that means.

Good to know I'm not the only one who was confused by that. Go here for more of their misheard lyrics.

Well, I'm administering dual MSLTs today at work and then I'm going to catch a plane to Missoula this evening. I'm going to visit my parents for a week and help Kim move back home for the summer this coming Friday. I'm hoping it'll be relaxing, clarifying, rejuvenating, etc.

See you all in a week!

Beautiful day out today, sunny with the occasional cloud, mild and pleasant breeze, tummy full of Irish food, exciting weekend ahead, what could be better? *grins*

Hey, all.
Well, looks like the initial reviews for the Silent Hill screening are out, and they look great from everyone with a recognizable iota of intelligence. There's the occasional moronic theater employee who just couldn't figure it out, but overall it looks very promising. I'm quite excited! :) Honestly, after all the interest I've had in the plots of these games, it'd be a big letdown if the movie was vile.

I was so slow getting to work today. I just really couldn't be bothered to go more quickly. I got up at 8:15 with a jolt because the lovely cat managed to step on the volume control for my alarm clock and it was set to 31 instead of 0. Yikes. Lazed around a little, then threw on some clothes, brushed teeth, cut up and ate a mango, and moseyed my way over to work. You know, as much as I wish I had a job that paid a lot more, I really like the fact that no one cares here when I get in. The low stress is good for me.

More therapy today, I'm finding it interesting. For a while I was afraid it was going to be a waste of time because I didn't seem to be achieving anything very quickly, but then I thought about it some more and decided that maybe it's about the journey and not an end goal. Now, whether I maintain this attitude in another month is anyone's guess.

I'll be heading out on Sunday 30 April for Missoula to see my parents. I'm flying over since it's probably actually less expensive (and certainly less time-consuming) than driving. I'll be back the 7th of May. It should be very relaxing and stress-free. Looking forward to it.

I hope you all have a happy rest of the week and luscious weekend! Go see Silent Hill! :p
